Saddle Night Stand

I had this saddle and thought I'd make a stool out of it.
I went down to my father's barn were I keep some of my storage and came up with a little  night stand for the base.
I imagine who ever buys this one the kind will be fighting to see who sits on it first.

Buffalo

This is the first buffalo I've ever made.
For the horns and tails of the Buffalo I used parts of coat hooks.  Sometimes if the grain of the wood is crossing the legs I have to glue in a dowel to keep the legs strong.
If you want to put this Buffalo to good use it can be used for keys, watches, etc. on the horns.

New Sign for Back Road Folkart

It was time I had a new sign - so I used this steel horse ( 3Rs Mare ) I had made in the fall of 2012.  Last summer he was on display at Kingsbrae Gardens in St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, NB
I think tourists will like it - maybe they'll hop on his back for a photo.  I have this horse project on YouTube showing how I made it - check it out...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkrRP8NimaM

Grizzly Bear Table Center Piece

This is the first grizzly bear I've ever done.  I made two of them you can use for a center piece on table.
I used nails for the teeth.  They are 12" long.

Big Horn Sheep

I picked up this fireplace dog-irons six months ago - three months went by then I had the idea to use them to make sheep horns.   So I cut them up in to five pairs and and made five big horn sheep in three different sizes.
I cleaned the iron up using my grinder brush attachment.

Desktop cabinet

I had three of these drawers left over from a cabinet I bought and thought I'd work them into a small desk top cabinet.
I cleaned up the original handles by using a grinder with a wire brush attachment.

Headboard from old door

I made this headboard from an old door - this is for a king bed.  I make them in other sizes, ie. queen, double, etc.
Below is the door before I turned it into a king size headboard.

Stepback Cupboard with lock and key

I made a couple of these stepback cupboards a few months ago and sold them all. So I made another.
Here I used an old dresser for the base which has original square nails.  I hunted up an old key and go the locks working on the drawers.

Church Window Bookcase

I came across this old window frame from an old church in New Brunswick.
I built out the sides and back and put in the shelving to make it into a bookcase.

Porch Cabinet

I was going through a flea market a month ago and came across this nice old door, which has old ripple glass.  The man selling the door said it came from a set of doors from the old stone Charlottetown Public Market.
This cabinet would work great in a porch.
Below is the old Public Market building where this door came from.  The market was designed by William Harris and opened in 1904 - it was destroyed by fire in 1958.  The market was located where The Confederation Center of the Arts is today.
Public Market - Charlottetown, PEI
I have bought hundreds of doors over the years but this is one of the best yet.  When we look at old photos of the building and it looks like the same door.
