Well, I have to say this piece is amoung the top five of my favourite folkart pieces I've made over years.
Last night my wife sewed the
fabric for the roof complete with elastic so you can put it on and take off easily.
It measures 20" wide by 20"
high. For the center piece in the middle I used a piece of old newel post.
"HANDS ON: ALIENS IN THE ATTIC. Wacky, fun, iconoclastic--these are the hallmarks of a folk artist, and P.E.I. Native Kerras Jeffery has them in spades". NATIONAL POST Jan/2011
This blog changed from a daily blog to a blog to celebrate the folk art of Kerras Jeffery, as well as his reproduction furniture and other projects. His studio & shop closed in 2017 following his passing.

Carousel - Part 2
I got my animals painted today and the merry go round is done also. The next
stage is putting together the parts of the animals, poles and the top
clips that keep the poles from turning. I'm going to be putting a tent
like roof on top of the merry go round using fabric.

Carousel - Part 1
I've been working on this carousel for the past week. Every winter I do a big art project - this is the one for Winter 2015. I'm starting to paint the animals now. I had to do some thinking on this one and how to come up with how it was going to turn the carousel horse's as they go up and down and not go sideways as they go around. I think I have it worked out.
Here's photos of the process so far. I will post two more after this.
