This blog shows the folkart I make, my reproduction furniture and other projects. My studio/shop is in my backyard. It's a couple of miles off the main road in West Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. When you come to visit make sure you see – the "Olde Times" Garden House Museum; Grandma's Attic; the Furniture Box; Grampa's Loft (antiques, old doors, etc. in my Dad’s old barn loft); and my World's Largest Egg Beater, certified by Guinness World Records.

20th Anniversary Week - Part 7

Well this is the last posting for my anniversary week - great fun to look back through the years!
My family gave me a Wayne Wright cartoon to mark the occasion - he cleverly worked in my folk art and my favourite dog Calvin!

Thanks to Jan Cox who wrote an article about me in her column, Way Up West, for the May 2016 issue of The Buzz.  Here's a link to the article and some additional photos she took that day...

Kerras Jeffery celebrates 20th anniversary of Back Road Folk Art

Way Up West  by Jan Cox

Kerras Jeffery has been called “wonderfully demented,” “amazing,” “brilliant” and “wacky.” Calling him names (sticks and stones) do not bother the PEI folk artist, he probably could make something out of them. A tour of his workshop and studio reveals the fantastic scope of his no-holes-barred imagination......Source: BUZZon.com

20th Anniversary - Part 6

I got my start working part time in the basement of my house around 1993.  At first I was mostly making gingerbread trims, screen doors and boring wood crafts.  The folk art quickly evolved and has continued to be the main focus of my business through the last 20+ years!
About five or six years ago I started making reproduction furniture from old doors, etc.  Eventually I opened "The Furniture Box" where I display and store the pieces.
Special thanks to the many retailers and supporters here on the Island who have been good customers and promoters of my works over the past two decades.
Also, a big thank you to Gerry Marks of Pollikers in the Toronto-Pickering area - he was one of my early promoters who introduced central Canada to my work!   And more recently thanks to Larry Dugdale who had me show at the Iron Crow in Calgary in the fall of 2014.

Below are photos from gingerbreads to reproduction furniture.
I've also built a couple of kitchens - here they are below - one was featured in East Coast Living magazine in 2013!!  Also my kitchen - thanks Dwayne!

20th Anniversary - Part 5

As I look back over the years I really appreciate the local newpapers, West Prince Graphic, Journal-Pioneer, The Guardian and The Buzz for always willing to tell a story about me and my projects.

I've had lots of exposure and attention over the years with my "World Largest Egg Beater"!  Even the Edmonton Journal (Alberta) picked up this story!
Summerside cartoonist Wayne Wright has also had fun with the idea of the largest egg beater being on Prince Edward Island!

20th Anniversary - Part 4

Special thanks to the folks of "West Prince" for your support over the past 20 years!!!  I've been fortunate to have many local people and businesses support me all year long - the summer months are busy with tourists, but it's the people of West Prince, as well as other Islanders, who help me to do what I love every day, week and month of the year!
It's a bit of a secret from the rest of the world that we have the best community ever!  Who would think I can receive a Museum Heritage Award and participate in a "Road Kill Exhibition" all here in little ole West Prince?
Below are miscellaneous articles and photos from over the years.

Growing up on a farm has influenced some of my art pieces, as you can see!
